Lauren Callahan

Lauren formed a passion for family law early in her studies at the Australian National University and has worked exclusively in the area since 2013.

Before joining the team at Phelps Reid Foster Johnson in 2021, Lauren worked in the private and community legal sectors in Canberra. Lauren is skilled to assist clients in all areas of family law including property settlement, parenting, divorce, child support and family violence matters.

Lauren is committed to helping clients resolve their matters efficiently and pragmatically. She understands there is no “one size fits all” approach to family law and is dedicated to tailoring her services to suit the needs and circumstances of each individual client.

During her time in the community sector, Lauren assisted many individuals who experienced family violence or other significant trauma. Lauren is conscious of the complexities that past trauma can bring to a client’s experience and works with empathy and understanding.

Lauren has a strong focus on alternative dispute resolution however is an experienced and clever Court advocate, should litigation become necessary.

Lauren is a member of the Family law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Canberra Region Family Law Professionals Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of the ACT. She also volunteers at the Women’s Legal Centre ACT’s evening advice service.
